The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) on Monday approved a 57 per cent raise in rates for power supplied from bagasse-based co-generation projects in the state, from Rs 3.05 to Rs 4.79 a unit.

Pune Unable to resolve the issue of an alternate site for dumping garbage, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) -- exploring other means for disposal of garbage -- will install 12 biogas plants in the city by December-end.
