A Composting unit over a drain may seem a little bit of a surprise for many. But, welcome to Borda in the jurisdiction of Margao Municipal Council where a composting unit is presently under construction on a water nullah.
While work on the composting unit has raised many an eyebrows, the Margao Municipal council has denied that work on the unit is being carried out by the Civic body.

The Margao Municipal Council will spent a whopping Rs 22.93 lakh to cover the Sonsodo dump yard and construct water drainage network at the site before the ensuing onset of monsoons.

The Margao Municipal Council has decided to invite Expression of Interest to set up a 50 ton garbage treatment and processing plant at Sonsodo on BOOT basis.
The Civic body, however, has no idea which agency will take up work on the land fill site at the dumping site, with Chairperson Savio Coutinho passing the buck on the five-member government constituted committee to take a decision.

The five-member committee constituted by the government monitor work on the proposed land fill site at Sonsodo has decided to seek the services of experts from the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Nagpur to guide the Margao Municipal Council in executing the land fill project.

For, sanitation has hit a low as the dirty toilets have made life miserable for the police constables occupying the barracks.
A visit to the headquarters revealed the pathetic state of affairs of the toilets attached to the barracks.
