Dhanbad, July 19: After rehabilitating more than 270 families from the fire-affected areas of the Jharia coalfield region to Jharia Vihar colony, the Jharia Rehabilitation Development Authority (JRDA) has decided to add around 750 quarters to the existing colony.
Currently, the Jharia Vihar colony has 2,352 quarters where illegal inhabitants of the coalfield region were shifted.

An explosion in a coal mine in central China on Monday killed 47 miners while 28 others were brought out to safety in yet another major mishap in the colliery sector notorious for its accident. At least 10 people were killed after a coal mine gas explosion in north China, officials said on Wednesday.
The accident occurred at around 4.50 pm on Tuesday when 41 miners were working in the shaft of Chentong Coal Industry Co. Ltd. at Yuxian County in Shanxi province, Xinhua news agency reported.
One Bangladeshi worker died, 25 injured and three other miners still missing while a roof of a tunnel of the Barapukuria coal mine caved in at Parbartipur here on Tuesday.
General Manager of Barapukuria coal mine Abdul Matin said the accident took place while a roof fault inside the mine collapsed on 32 miners including two Chinese nationals at around 10.30 am.
CHIRMIRI: Plumes of smoke continued to billow from the Anjan Hills coal mine in Chhattisgarh's Chirmiri district on Friday, as hopes faded for the six miners still trapped in the mine, where an explosion killed four workers and injured another 28 on Thursday.
CHIRMIRI: While officials have refused to comment on the possible cause of the mine explosion in Chhattisgarh's Koriya district, interviews with miners, rescue workers and doctors on the site of Thursday's blast suggest that it could have been caused by a methane leak in a coal seam more than 200 metres below the surface.
