Four people have died in Madhya Pradesh in the past two days due to sunstroke taking the total number of sunstroke deaths to five as various parts of the state continued to reel under scorching heat.

Three people, including a woman, died due to sunstroke in Morena district and one person died due to sunstroke in Bhind. A labourer, affected by sunstroke, is receiving treatment in Morena.

The state government has sanctioned Rs 63 crore to Panchayat and Rural Development Department to undertake employment-oriented works in 38 districts, which have been affected by drought in the wake of scanty rainfall during 2009-10. Out of these funds, Rs 40 crore has been allocated by the office of Relief Commissioner to Panchayat and Rural Development Department as first instalment.

Panchayat and Rural Development Minister, Rustam Singh laid foundation of three roads to be constructed at a cost of Rs five crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in Morena district, the other day. On this occasion, he reiterated the government's commitment saying that every village will be connected with the main road and not even a single village would be left without road communication facility.
