New Delhi: Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday conferred the Clean City awards on Alappuzha, Panaji and Mysuru at a function here.

The three cities will be awarded CSE’s Clean City award here today by the Union urban development minister M Venkaiah Naidu. Mr Naidu will also officially release CSE’s latest report on solid waste management in Indian cities, titled Not in my backyard. CSE director general Sunita Narain said: “This book started as a survey—we wanted to simply know which city is India’s cleanest.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Krishan Pal Vs. Union of India & Others dated 08/07/2016 regarding indiscriminate dumping of Municipal Solid Waste and its continuous burning in various parks, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Tribunal issues show cause notice to Secretary, Ghaziabad Development Authority, District Magistrate, Ghaziabad and Additional Municipal Commissioner, Ghaziabad.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Dr. Irfan Ahmad & Others Vs. Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora & Others dated 31/05/2016 regarding bio-medical waste disposal in the city of Srinagar and Jammu. NGT directs the authorities concerned to get a joint inspection conducted in regard to the hospitals and the disposal of bio-medical waste in the entire city of Srinagar and Jammu.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Karan Singh Vs. State of Himachal Pradesh & Others dated 10/05/2016 regarding municipal solid waste management in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Tribunal noted that there is no plant presently operating in the State of Himachal Pradesh, including its capital at Shimla thus it is necessary that the municipal solid waste instead of being dumped in the Hilly Valley should be taken to Chandigarh site and provided to the plant.

Vadivel Vs Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department, Chennai & Others dated 04/05/2016 regarding Kallukuttai lake pollution in Elaiyur East Revenue village, Andimadam Panchayat, Ariyalur District. The grievance of the Applicant is that garbage collected from Jayankondam Municipality is going to be dumped in the water body.
