BHUBANESWAR: The Centre has asked the State Government to submit a report to it on the multi-crore mining scam.
Secretary in the Union Ministry of Mines Santa Sheela Nair today met Chief Secretary T K Mishra at the secretariat here and discussed steps taken by the State Government to curb the illegal mining activities in the state and proposed expansion of Nalco in Orissa.

NEW DELHI: State-run National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco) on Wednesday announced its plans to set up mines and refinery project in the Andhra Pradesh and a second aluminium smelter in Orissa.

The captive power plant of National Aluminium Company (Nalco) in Angul has started regulating power supply to the smelter, located next to it, owing to acute coal crisis.

The Nalco CPP has reached super critical condition where it has only two days coal supply.

The power supply to the Nalco smelter plant will be regulated till the coal stock of its captive power plant (CPP) stabilizes.

ANGUL: In order to dispose of over burdened ash in its ponds, Nalco has decided to give cash incentives to the lifters. At present Nalco is providing pond ash free of cost to the end-users.

North coastal Andhra Pradesh is set to become the hub for the aluminium industry with three companies lining up over Rs 20,000 crore in the next three-four years for their proposed alumina refineries in the region.

BHUBANESWAR: The aluminium major NALCO today signed a memorandum of understanding with the State Government for establishment of an aluminium park at Angul.

The proposed park will be a joint venture of the NALCO and the Orissa Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) and it will be close to the smelter plant. The estimated project cost of the aluminium park is Rs 75 crore.
