Affidavit by Chief Secretary to government of Haryana in compliance of directions of the National Green Tribunal, October 10, 2022. The matter is related to illegal mining in Aravalli hills of Gurugram, Mewat and Faridabad districts.
The Mines and Geology Department, Haryana is committed to stop illegal mining in the Aravalli hill area of districts Faridabad, Gurugram and Nuh. The department has taken action in 9 cases out ouf 44 complaints received by it on illegal mining in Aravali hills area.
Nuh (Mewat): One can reach Barota, a village located on the Gurgaon-Alwar road in Nuh district, in a little over half an hour from Gurgaon, the millennium city which boasts of world-class facilities.
However, clean drinking has failed to reach the village till date. For reasons best known to the authorities (un)concerned, the hapless villagers are forced to drink smelly brackish water.
