Andhra Pradesh has introduced a new draft regulation aimed at facilitating open access to electricity generated from renewable energy sources within the state. The regulation is set to come into force upon approval by the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) and promises to revolutionize the state’s energy landscape.

RERC modified some of the draft regulations related to the issue of banking, project-specific tariffs, cross subsidies and others. The new regulation has been named RERC (Terms and Conditions for Tariff Determination from Renewable Energy) (First Amendment) Regulations, 2023.

The Ministry of Power (MoP) has issued draft Electricity Distribution (Accounting aspects of Specified Items & Additional Disclosures), Rules, 2023. The rules shall be applicable to specified entity (SE).

The booklet “Growth of Electricity Sector in India” published annually by Central Electricity Authority provides panoramic view of growth of the Indian Power Sector over the years. The relevant information and statistics have been presented in the forms of graphs, pie-charts, maps and tables.

Ministry of Power has carried out a series of reforms in the power sector, which have facilitated ease of doing business, ease of living, protecting rights of electricity consumers and have also kept the price of power at reasonable rates.

The Electricity (Rights of Consumers) Amendment Rules, 2023, mention that the time of day (ToD) tariff specified by the state commission for commercial and industrial consumers during peak hours of the day shall not be less than 1.2 times the normal tariff and for other consumers, it shall not be less than 1.1 times the normal tariff.

These regulations may be called the Central Electricity Authority (Measures relating to Safety and Electric Supply) Regulations, 2023. These regulations shall come into force on the date of publication in the Official Gazette.
