The Elephant Task Force constituted by the High Court has recommended cancellation of the lease granted to mushrooming mini hydel power projects in the Western Ghats, particularly in Sakleshpur region. Even as the Supreme Court has referred construction of a road through Pushpagiri sanctuary in Kodagu to Central Empowered Committee, another case of violation of the Apex Court guidelines has come to light.
