Rail Bhavan mandarins are quick to point out that in spite of their many similarities, Railways Minister Mamata Banerjee and her predecessor, Lalu Prasad, are different at least in one crucial respect.

DoNER Minister BK Handique today assured that both the Bogibeel bridge and the Lumding-Badarpur gauge conversion project will be completed by 2012.

Speaking to mediapersons on the sideline of a function here at the Guwahati railway station, Handique said that some external funding was required for the Bogibeel project and once that was secured, the work will be expedited.
