Report by the government of Tamil Nadu for implementation of SWM Rules in OA No. 606 of 2018 (Compliance of SWM Management Rules, 2016). Tamil Nadu has achieved 96 per cent door to door colletion and 81 per cent source segregation of solid waste. The report claimed that 100 per cent of total waste is being collected. In 2022, out of 14,995 TPD of total waste generation, 9,310 TPD was processed and out of 8,083 TPD of wet waste, 5542 TPD was processed. The estimated quantity of legacy waste is 207 lakh cu.m and biomining works was taken up in 269 locations.

Shortfalls found in liquid waste management in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad: CPCB The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in its report to the NGT, July 20, 2022 said that bio-remediation techniques adopted by Nagar Nigam, Ghaziabad in 10 monitored drains was not effective as high organic load was observed at outfall of each drain. Nagar Nigam, Ghaziabad needs to address the issue by ensuring complete (100%) tapping of drains.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on 6th July 2022 has published the Plastic Waste Management (Second Amendment) Rules, 2022 to further amend the Plastic Waste Management (Second Amendment) Rules, 2016.
