NAGAPATTINAM: The authorities of the famous Velankanni church (Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Health) on Tuesday launched a solid waste management project at a cost of Rs. 1 crore in the campus to maintain hygiene and public health as lakhs of pilgrims from various parts of the country visit the church throughout the year.

State Minister for Environment and Forest Mustafizur Rahman said the government is going to develop a strategy soon for sustainable waste management to keep the environment toxic-free.

Chandigarh: The UT Administration has given its approval for Municipal Corporation councillors to conduct a study tour in Gujarat. A communication to this effect was received on Monday.
