COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore Corporation is of the firm view that the menace of non-biodegradable and non-recyclable plastic bags should be eliminated for its waste management programme to be successful.

A release from the Municipal Commissioner, K.R. Selvaraj said that solid waste management scheme was being implemented successfully in Pollachi and a ban has been imposed on use of plastics below 20 microns.

COIMBATORE: Solid waste management is progressing in all the 52 town panchayats in the district, even though at least half of them are struggling to find land to create landfills for the disposal of non-biodegradable waste.
