London-based alternative investment manager Climate Change Capital plans to invest 5 billion yuan (US$732 million) in environmental projects in China including industrial waste management and clean technology over the next two to three years.

The Environment Protection Agency (EPA) is going to take action against the government agencies concerned for not following the solid waste management guidelines, which can cause several diseases, including dengue, EPA officials said on Saturday.

Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) has opened solid waste management offices in some targeted wards in the city to improve its waste collection system.

As solid waste management requires close cooperation of the citizens, they can make recommendations, comments or lodge complaints to the ward waste management offices so that the DCC can respond promptly, DCC sources told BSS on Wednesday.

The shredder machine installed at a specially erected shade near Shrishthal panchayat was inaugurated by Zilla Panchayat (South) President Cleofacio Dias on Monday morning.

With the growing population, urbanisation and demand for consumer goods, both quantity and quality of urban solid waste has changed significantly. This is causing serious environment problems.
