The matter related to violation of Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016 and dumping of garbage in the road or open area at Udyog Vihar, Gurugram, Haryana. It was further submitted by the counsel appearing for the applicant that Eco Green Company and Municipal Corporation, Gurugram were not complying with the MSW Rules, 2016 and working in violation of the Rules.

The Central Government has notified the E-Waste (Management) Second Amendment Rules, 2023. These rules aim to ensure secure, accountable, and sustainable management of e-waste, specifically focusing on refrigerants generated during the manufacture and end-of-life of refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment.

The matter related to dumping of waste in village Dughneri, district Hamirpur.

The Principal Secretary, Urban Development, Himachal Pradesh informed the court that legacy waste tender agreement has been done by the Municipal Council, Hamirpur with Suntan Life Company and legacy waste process work has been started by the company at SWM plant, Dughneri. 3121.54 ton legacy waste has been sorted till July 2, 2023.

Grievance in the application is dumping of solid waste, plastic bags, polyester clothes waste and other non-biodegradable material in Sidhwan Canal and a report was called from a joint Committee in which it was found that there was throwing of waste material into the canal.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has announced the introduction of the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Amendment Rules, 2023. These rules have come into effect from 12th July, 2023.
