MUMBAI: Animal experts have stated that continuously teasing zoo animals, especially large animals like elephants, and trespassing into their territories are the main provocations that cause the animals to react, sometimes fatally.
Even as the city reels under severe water crisis, authorities at the Jijamata Udyan zoo at Byculla are set to cope with hard times ahead. After an intensive survey to tap inert water sources within its premises, the zoo authorities have revived five borewells to supply water to its ponds and lawns.
Ranchi-based Birsa Munda Biological Park will be the new home for the baby stork that was rescued from curious villagers at Sitarampur dam in Seriakela-Kharsawan on February 12.
The migratory bird, which had a limp and could not fly, was being treated at the rescue centre of Tata Steel Zoological Park.
