Sixty cases have been reported so far and three patients dead

Delhi Health Minister A. K. Walia on Thursday directed the 17 government and five private hospitals identified for isolation care and treatment facility for H1N1 cases to gear up for timely management and treatment of swine flu, which has already claimed three lives this year. Reviewing the situation with regard to recent spurt in H1N1 cases, Dr. Walia directed that all these 22 hospitals should have arrangements for intensive care facilities and must ensure that their ventilators are ready to meet any required intervention.

Delhi Cabinet takes help of NASA images to discover cause of the smog

With the Capital facing constant haze and smog over the past many days, the Delhi Cabinet on Wednesday took help of pictures taken by the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to find an answer to the problem. And after deliberations on the subject, it discovered that much of the smog had to do with burning of rice husk and stalks by farmers in their paddy fields in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.

Declaring that the first in-situ slum rehabilitation project undertaken at Kathputli Colony in his New Delhi parliamentary constituency was close to his heart, Union Housing and Poverty Alleviation Minister Ajay Maken said on Tuesday that more such projects would be planned to rid the city and other urban areas across the country of slums.

The Centre will soon implement Phase II of the Rajiv Awas Yojna with a focus on providing long-term and bankable property rights to slum dwellers, Union Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister Ajay Maken said, soon after taking charge of his new Ministry on Tuesday.

Contractors will provide maintenance for five years

The Public Works Department of the Delhi Government has got estimates sanctioned for 60 road projects worth Rs.520 crore and of these works for 20 have also been awarded and are scheduled to begin next month. PWD Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan said on Friday that the Department had got 674 roads of over 60 feet width from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and has drawn up plans for completely redeveloping them by end of March 2014.

The Public Works Department of Delhi Government is drawing up a Rs.1,050 crore plan for complete re-development of nearly 825 km of roads that have been transferred to it from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

Delhi PWD Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan said on Thursday that the plan envisages taking up works worth Rs.250 crore in the current fiscal and of another Rs.800 crore in 2013-14.

Corporation asked to speed up the work within three months so that tenders could be invited

To ensure proper and speedy implementation of the Mono Rail project, the Delhi Government has decided to get the complete job of preparation of the Detailed Project Reports, floating of tenders, selection of contractors and construction done by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. The Delhi Government on Wednesday also announced that it was now contemplating extending this 11-km project across the Yamuna to Delhi University, Kashmere Gate and Chandni Chowk. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, which had earlier been asked to prepare the DPR, has now been told to speed up the work within three months so that tenders for the project could be invited.
