The Government of Chandigarh on June 16, 2023, published a draft of Chandigarh Energy Conservation Building Code Rules, 2023.

With the aim of conserving energy, the UT Administration has unveiled the draft Chandigarh Energy Conservation Building Code, 2023, and invited suggestions, if any, within 30 days. Formulated as per the composite climate of the city, the code will set minimum requirements for an energy-efficient design and construction of buildings.

The Government of Chandigarh on 20th September 2022, approved the Electric Vehicle Policy 2022, framed to build UT Chandigarh as a Model EV city by achieving one of the highest penetration of zero emission vehicles amongst all Indian cities by the end of the policy period.

The Union Territory of Chandigarh has framed a “Draft Electric Vehicle Policy, 2022” in order to make Chandigarh a “Model EV City” by achieving one of the highest penetration of zero emission vehicles amongst all Indian cities in a period of five years.

The objectives of this industrial policy are: To sensitize the administration to the needs of the industries; To create congenial environment for the development of tiny, micro, small & medium enterprises; To evolve an appropriate mechanism so as to promote industrial growth in the right perspective paving way for sustainable economic growth; o maximize production and achieve higher productivity

The Chandigarh Urban Complex is poised for a higher growth in coming decades. The above problems are bound to grow in magnitude unless advance actions are undertaken now. There is an urgent need for significant improvements in the transport system including mass transport system keeping in view the long term requirements.
