A recent survey shows that an estimated 6 million people in 32 counties have been affected by the prolonged drought following a fifth consecutive poor rainfall season especially in Arid and Semi-Arid (ASAL) counties.

The Ministry of Health has launched the national reproductive health policy (2022-2032) as it moves to consolidate gains made in the health sector.

How severe, how many and when: In July 2019, estimated 2.6 Million people (19% of the population in ASAL) are classified in IPC phase 3 and/or worse acute food insecurity. Comparing to 2018 same period, around 700,000 people were classified in Crisis (IPC Phase 3).

The Food and Nutrition Security Assessment (FNSA) is a multi-agency, multi-sectoral exercise led by the government of Kenya, and is conducted in 23 arid and semi-arid Counties.
