The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (MoCAF&PD) on January 16, 2024, issued the Targeted Public Distribution System (Control) Amendment Order, 2024, to further amend the Targeted Public Distribution System (Control) Order, 2015.

Odisha has been adjudged the top ranked State followed by Uttar Pradesh at the 2nd spot and Andhra Pradesh at third amongst the General Category States in ‘State Ranking Index for NFSA’. Among the Special Category states/UTs, Tripura stood first followed by Himachal Pradesh and Sikkim respectively.

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has issued the Food Security (Assistance to State Governments) (Amendment) Rules, 2021 to further amend the Food Security (Assistance to State Governments) Rules, 2015.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 38 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules to further amend the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018, namely:- (1) These rules may be called the Bureau of Indian Standards (Amendment) Rules, 2020.

The Rules provide for state governments to implement the direct cash transfer scheme for food subsidy beneficiaries. The central government will transfer funds to states/UTs on a monthly basis for this purpose.

The Ministry of consumer affairs in an extra ordinary gazette notification, made an amendment to bring in GM food labeling under G.S.R.

In the wake of consistent rise of rate of inflation during the first quarter of calendar year 2007 and responding to the concerns expressed at various fora and by various opinions including by Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in its 17th Report, an Expert Committee was set up unde
