The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, in consultation with the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India, has published Motor Vehicles (Third Party Insurance Base Premium and Liability) Rules, 2022 vide notification dated 25.05.2022. The rules shall come into force on 1st June, 2022.

Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has published a draft notification dated 5.5.2022 regarding amendments in certain provisions of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989 pertaining to the Trade Certificate. A Trade Certificate is required only in case of vehicles which are neither registered nor temporarily registered.

Owners of cars that are more than 15 years old will have to shell out eight times more money to renew their registration, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, as the Centre prepares ground to phase out old and polluting vehicles in line with the national vehicle scrappage policy.
