India scored the lowest among 180 countries in this 2022 Environment Performance Index (EPI), an analysis by researchers of Yale and Columbia University which provides a data-driven summary of the state of sustainability around the world.

The 2016 Environmental Performance Index (EPI), a Yale-based initiative that evaluates how 180 countries protect ecosystems and human health, finds cause for both optimism and serious concern.

India has been ranked at a low 155th position in this global index that places countries on how well they perform on high-priority environmental issues.

The 2010 Environmental Performance Index (EPI) ranks 163 countries including India, on 25 performance indicators tracked across ten well-established policy categories covering both environmental public health and ecosystem vitality.
