The National Green Tribunal (NGT) directed the state of Andhra Pradesh to file a status report on waste management in Andhra Pradesh as on March 31, 2023 by April 15, 2023.

The court, November 17, 2022 also directed further remedial measures to be taken urgently which would address the following issues:

1. Verification of impact of bioremediation of drains on reduction of BOD and fecal coliform to save unnecessary expenditure if no positive impact is taking place

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) was directed by the NGT to issue guidelines for utilization of marble slurry and to prevent its unregulated dumping. The Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board was ordered to ensure that no illegal extraction of groundwater takes place by marble polish units and industries adhere to zero liquid discharge standard and should have captive or combined slurry utilization plan.
