Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Niranjan Sharma & Others Vs Ministry of Environment, Forest & Others dated 05/02/2016 regarding sand mining operation in the State of Jharkhand.

Tribunal passed an order of injunction restraining operation of sand mining of any nature in respect of any unit in the State of Jharkhand without valid consent to operate from State Board and without environmental clearance. The Chief Secretary, Govt. of Jharkhand is directed to take steps and measures to implement this order in the State.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Kalyan Bansingh & Ors. Vs. HIL Ltd. & Ors. dated 05/01/2016 regarding compensation for the loss sustained by the Applicants on account of asbestos mining carried out by the Respondent No. 1 i.e. HIL Ltd. besides seeking restitution/closure of abandoned asbestos mines at Village Roro, West Singhbhum, Jharkhand.

Pleadings are complete. However, the question of restitution of abandon asbestos mines can be resolved effectively upon getting the report of Joint Inspection Team from the State of Jharkhand ruled the Court.
