For a naive and non-scientist, it would be obvious that the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is a clean fuel. Especially in the cities, it is the most common fuel for domestic cooking. There is also a small fraction of light duty vehicles which run on LPG and has proven to be clean compared to their counter parts - diesel and petrol.

An advanced notification system on daily air quality is developed for the National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi, under the "Clean Air for Delhi 2010 and Beyond" program.

For the city of Delhi, an air quality index methodology was proposed and applied for six criteria pollutants - PM10, PM2.5, CO, NOx, SO2, and Ozone and analyzed for trends in the past three years of data. The AQI is reported on a scale of 0 to 500 and subdivided into six colored bins for easy understanding of the common person and the media.

New Delhi: Consumers will have to fork out up to 40 paise a litre more for motor fuels in 13 cities that will upgrade to Euro-IV quality. Petroleum secretary S Sundareshan on Monday confirmed that the government was considering a differential pricing for Euro-IV petrol and diesel but declined to say by how much the prices would be higher from Euro-III fuels being sold now.

Lisa P. Jackson, Administrator of the United States Environment Protection Agency (USEPA), on December 7, 2009 announced to the world that greenhouse gases (GHGs) threaten the public health and welfare of the American people, and therefore, can be considered an air pollutant under the US’s Clean Air Act. The US is now the first country in the world to call GHGs air pollutants. 

The world's airlines have agreed to new fuel efficiency and carbon emission targets which go much further than the levels required through regulation, an industry group said on Saturday.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency did a reasonable job in estimating the U.S. biofuel industry's role in causing greenhouse gas emissions overseas, but some of the work was problematic, a scientific review panel concluded on Friday.

The All Pakistan CNG Association estimates an increase of Rs8 to Rs9 per kilogram in the price of CNG following the imposition of carbon surcharge as announced by the government in the federal budget for 2009-2010 on Saturday.

New Delhi: The government has finally decided to implement auto fuel economy standards. After a year of wrangling between the heavy industries, surface transport and power ministries, the PMO has decided that the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) will formulate the norms and notify them under the Energy Conservation Act while the surface transport ministry will ensure its implementation.
