US lawmakers have asked Dow Chemical to clean up the soil and underground water contaminated by the deadly gas leak at Union Carbide plant at Bhopal but the US firm disowned the liabilities saying that it never owned or operated the disgraced plant site.

Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President Suresh Pachauri has demanded the state government to declare Bhopal district as drought hit. He was addressing a team of farmers who were sitting in 'Dharna' in connection with their 11-point programme in front of the district collector's office.

If the flood situation arises in any district during the ensuing monsoon, the administration of the concerning district can act as per the action plan speedily and effectively. As many as 36 districts of the State have been identified as flood-prone.

The builders and strongmen do no bother about the rules and regulations in Kolar. Several years old drainage system is closed and constructed road over it. In several places buildings have been constructed over the drainage. It is not that the high officials are not aware of what are going on in their area. According to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Narmada water will be provided in Malwa region too to solve the drinking water problem permanently. The state government's efforts are on in this direction, he said. Chouhan visited Village Hirani in Sehore district on Wednesday where intake well is being constructed under Narmada Water Scheme for the purpose of bringing Narmada water to Bhopal.
