Garima, the cloned buffalo calf born as part of a Rs 7 crore National Agricultural Innovation Project funded by World Bank, is growing handsomely at National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Karnal.

Born a healthy 43 kg on June 6, the calf is now five-and-a-half months old.

Scientists of the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) today meekly admitted that the second buffalo clone to be born in May end had prematurely died and the date about the death of the clone would be provided in next couple of days.

NUAPADA: Thirteen buffaloes and over 30 goats have died in Bantapur village under Khasbahal gram panchayat in Khariar block over last one week. Villagers said drying up of the two water bodies in the village besides failure of tube wells to discharge water resulted in the deaths.
