Of the thirty samples collected as part of the study, the samples of three students contained more than 10 microgram per decilitre (mpd). The permissible limit is up to 10mpd.

Sixteen students were taken ill after midday meals at a school in Ajmer on Wednesday. Nine students fell unconscious while others complained of nausea soon after having their lunch. District midday meal incharge Ashok Sharma said a dead lizard was found in the meals.

TWO children of Meenatchipuram near Rajapalayam, who consumed bottled soft drink, died soon after consuming it on Tuesday.

Priya (10) and Gnanaselvi (7) on returning home from school consumed soft drink on Tuesday evening, said their parents Jeyaraj and Murugeswary.

Within minutes, both the children fell unconscious and they were taken to a nearby hospital were they died.
