Hyderabad, Nov. 10 The Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation and the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) are all set to enter into an MoU by this month-end for exploration of iron ore in Kadapa, Kurnool, Chittoor and Karimnagar districts in the State for setting up of benefication plants.

Hyderabad, Sept. 21: The Chief minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, said the Union government was keen on supporting industrial growth in Andhra Pradesh by providing huge funds for the expansion of Vizag Steel Plant and establishing the BHEL-NTPC plant at Mannavaram in Chittoor district.

Sept. 17: Housewives in several districts of Chittoor district are forcing their husbands to go into the forests in search of sand boa snakes.
The snake has become a topic of discussion among women coming together in the rural areas. It is also believed if this snake is sacrificed it brings good luck to real estate business.

Aug. 25: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday directed the principal secretary of the revenue department to file an affidavit in a week as to why authorities cancelled pattas to one set of people while issuing it to another set of people in more than 500 acres even after notifying those lands for acquisition to set up the Special Economic Zone at Satyavedu in Chittoor.

Several areas of Adilabad, Medak, Guntur and Krishna districts received around 8 cm rainfall, somewhat negating the effects of the drought-like conditions in the state.

June 22: Mud snakes and star tortoises from Anantapur and Kadapa districts are being smuggled out of the state for a neat profit.
Unscrupulous traders from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Chittoor, Nellore, Kadapa and Anantapur in the state have been buying mud snakes weighing three kg for Rs 3 lakh and star turtles with stripes for Rs 4 lakh.

June 8: The Red Sand Boa, an endangered snake, is being smuggled out of the state because of its medicinal value. Forest officials nabbed a gang of smugglers at Chittoor a few days ago with a snake weighing 3 kg. But they secured their release by paying Rs 1 lakh as penalty instantly.
