HC seeks mangrove report

Rajahmundry, Aug. 27: The AP High Court directed the Krishna district collector to stop the clearance of mangroves and mud flats at Polatitippa village of Machilipatnam mandal and asked the latter to send a detailed report on the development following a public interest litigation filed by former secretary of Government of India Dr E.A.S. Sarma recently.

Fishermen oppose draft CZM plan

SHOWING their displeasure against the Central Government's motive, the Tamil Nadu fishermen on Thursday unanimously rejected the proposed Coastal Zone Management draft notification-2008 by terming it as a move to evict them from their coastal area and allow tourist resorts and industries backed by multinationals to launch their business there.
