The Punjab and Haryana High Court directed the Punjab Pollution Control Board to file an affidavit on time-bound programme for the installation of the Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) in the Budha Nullah pollution case. The information has to be furnished by August 9 - the next date of hearing, which has been fixed for August 9.

NEW DELHI: The capital produces about 5,000 metric tonnes (MT) of hazardous waste annually but it still doesn't have any facility for proper storage and disposal of such wastes. The government is in the process of acquiring land for this purpose at Kanjhawla. However, it will take a couple of years before the facility is set up.

A number of studies have already been carried out for the metal analysis of paper mill effluents which are generally using wood and non-wood (bamboo, baggase etc.) as fibrous raw material for paper manufacturing process. This study deals with a paper mill which is using cotton comber and cotton liner as raw material for paper manufacturing process.
