Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Poonam Gehlot Vs. State of Himachal Pradesh & Ors. dated 28/03/2017 regarding cutting of trees which are endangering the life of inhabitants, Himachal Pradesh. The state government has stated that 40 trees require immediate cutting to prevent loss of life.

NGT appoints a Local Commissioner who will visit the place and examine condition of the trees in question and submit a report with photographs before the Tribunal.

Judgement of the National Green Tribunal (Southern Zone, Chennai) in the matter of S Prabakaran, Nadu Theru, Sothikuppam, Cuddalore VS Ministry of Environment & Forests dated 24/03/2017 regarding the laying of pipeline by Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Technology or any other means in the CRZ area of Uppanar River for carrying out Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM) or any such hazardous material which according to the Applicant is a prohibited activity under the CRZ Notification, 1991 and to set aside the approval granted by MoEF to M/s.

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Joydeep Mukherjee VS Pollution Control Board, Assam & Ors dated 24/03/2017 regarding grant of permission to set up brick kiln industries in Assam. Additional Advocate General for the State of Assam submits that the process of issuing the final notification publishing the state policy on the grant of permission to set up brick kiln industries, is at its final stage and is only awaiting consideration of the Finance Department, Govt. of Assam, which, as per him, would be completed within six weeks.

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Environment Pollution & Health Hazards in the State Vs State of Meghalaya & Others dated 24/03/2017 regarding hotels and guest houses in Shillong releasing untreated polluted water directly to rivers. By order dated 10.2.2017, NGT had directed the Meghalaya State PCB to verify the claim of these hotels that they had complied with the directions of the Board. It is stated in the reports of the State PCB that they are compliant in all respects.
