KOKRAJHAR, Dec 7: The people of flood and erosion-prone Dhemaji district under the banner of the Ganatantric Nagarik Suraksha Mancha (GNSM) raised their demand for permanent flood and erosion control structures in the district.

GUWAHATI, Nov 26: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today assured Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi of forming an expert committee to go into the apprehensions expressed by the public about the mega dam at the site of the Lower Subansiri hydroelectric power project at Gerukamukh in Dhemaji district.

According to an official release, Singh made the assurance at a meeting with Gogoi in New Delhi.
