Swajaldhara project a big success in Kovilur Panchayat
DINDIGUL: Despite implementation of three drinking water projects, including the Rs.100-crore combined Cauvery drinking water scheme, the Dindigul municipality is not able to supply water to all its residents even once in six days. In some areas, residents get water only once in 12 days.
All the 2,150 residents of K. Ramanathapuram village in Dindigul district are now getting good quality drinking water, thanks to effective community participation and the implementation of the Central government
43,000 pits dug in rural areas: Dindigul Collector
DINDIGUL: Two lakh saplings will be planted in various places in the district shortly. Preliminary work had begun in urban and rural areas, said Collector, M Vallalar.

DINDIGUL: A total of 450 projects, including 128 supply channels, 192 tanks, one small irrigation works, three ooranis and 126 road works, were carried out under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in 2008-09, according to Collector M Vallalar.

Farmers demand release of water for irrigation
THENI: Storage level in the Periyar dam crossed the minimum required level 112 feet to enable public works engineers to release water for irrigation here on Tuesday evening.
Water level stood at 112.5 feet on Tuesday, thanks to a massive increase in inflow to the dam and intermittent showers for the past three days.
