Centre blocks Rs 1.44 cr for incomplete civil works

While approval was given for the sanction of Rs 10.82 crore to implement Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Scheme in Kodagu district for the academic year 2009-10, the Centre has blocked the release of Rs 1.44 crore since civil works related to school buildings were not completed in time.

The cut off percentage for admissions into agricultural universities in the State has fallen from 82 per cent in the 1990s to 37 per cent in 2007.

The number of applicants for 600 seats at the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Bangalore, has plummeted from 4,000 in 1996 to a mere 1,200 in 2007.
