Bamboos have bloomed in the surroundings of Balehonnur giving a new look to the town.

In the meantime, people are also apprehensive that the bamboos are going to die since they have got flowers.

NEW DELHI: It is probably the best news for Mumbai's leading builders who had invested thousands of crores of rupees on buying prime plots to develop flats and residences but got stuck in the environment tangle as the land was classified later as forest area.

Residents of Kurpem and Kurdi wards of Wadem-Kurdi have bitterly complained of the massive destruction of forest by a mining company in the area.
The residents have also charged the mining company for destruction of their agricultural plantation and paddy fields.

Alipurduar, Jan. 14: The forest department has decided to develop an eco-tourism spot at the Buxa Tiger Reserve, where eight men had died in encounters with forest guards over timber smuggling in the past five years.

The state forest department is facing a problem to relocate the villages situated within the Buxa Tiger Reserve after villagers started getting pattas of forest land under the Forest Rights Act. The forest department had initiated a plan to make the Buxa Tiger Reserve located in Alipurduar subdivision of Jalpaiguri district human settlement free after human-animal conflict went up alarmingly.

Gangtok: The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is all set to pump in around Rs 318 crore for an ambitious integrated project for sustainable development of forest resources in Sikkim.
