Objection to the report of the Gujarat Pollution Control Board by the applicant, Aditya Singh Chauhan on industries polluting Sabarmati river.

The report points out that there are 672 industries in the area who are members of common effluent treatment plant (CETP), Ahmedabad Hand Screen Printing Association (AHSPA), but the report deals with only 55 industries. The zero liquid discharge (ZLD) units in the area as given by Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) was 55 units only - whereas to the best of knowledge of the applicant total ZLD units in the area is more than 200.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Tarun Patel Vs Gujarat Pollution Control Board & Others dated 01/10/2019 regarding discharge caused by Vapi CETP and other units in Vapi/Daman region, Gujarat. The NGT orders that the CETP should adhere strictly to the inlet and outlet norms as prescribed under the rules and the Gujarat Pollution Control Board should monitor and maintain strict vigil over the CETP.

It was alleged that waste is being disposed off for several years in a dump yard located at Survey No. 727/-P/1, in village Juna Deesa which was a grazing land in close proximity of human habitation.

According to the applicant, the dumping site does not have any authorization in terms of Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016. Dumping of mixed garbage is unscientific.
