On the occasion of the observation of Cleanliness Week from October 1 to 7, the Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC) was launched in Hailakandi district. On this occasion a district-level function was organised at Rabindra Bhawan in Hailakandi town on October 1 under the auspices of District Water & Sanitation Committee of the Department of Public Health Engineering.
An action plan have been prepared by the Hailakandi district administration to tackle the drought-like situation prevailing in the district, an official press release said. It may be mentioned that almost all the 322 villages in Hailakandi district including 25,000 farmer families have been badly hit by the ongoing drought-like situation.
HAILAKANDI, April 20: Under NRHM scheme, the health infrastructure in the district is going to be improved in all aspects. Pharmacies in all health centres in Block level in this district have been opened by deputing Pharmacists. Lala, Katlicherra, Algapur and Hailakandi Pharmacies are supplying medicines free of cost.
Through an ethnobotanical survey of Barak-valley, about 150 naturally growing and frequently used medicinal plants were collected. Out of these collections, 24 plant species have been highly prioritised for conservation.
