JAMMU, Sep 17: As rains continue to lash the region, 300 kilometer long Jammu Srinagar National Highway remain closed due to landslides and sliding stones in Ramban, today.

New Delhi: Even after Delhi high court gave two weeks to NHAI and Gurgaon expressway contractor to ink an outof-court settlement, both parties have failed to come to an agreement.

With more than 400 road and National Highways projects stuck for want of environment, forest and wildlife clearances, the Centre is planning for a single window to remove the bottlenecks.

6.5 kms Chhatergalla tunnel to reduce 20 km distance

JAMMU: After a long wait of nearly 30 years, the people from Doda and Kathua districts will have an all weather double lane road as Border Roads Organisation (GREF) has given the completion target of 2017 of this prestigious Rs 600 crore Bhaderwah-Bani-Basohli road project. With a 6.5 km long tunnel at Chhatergalla through Seoj Dhar, on the eastern side of Kailash Kund pilgrimage in Bhaderwah sub division, the road once made through, would likely to open flood-gates for the tourists from Punjab, Himachal, Delhi, Haryana and other States. Even the tourists visiting to Chamba- Dalhousie and other parts of Himachal, would be attracted towards picturesque valley of Bhaderwah, known as mini-Kashmir via this link.

All weather connectivity to Ladakh

The Government today approved construction of a tunnel at Z-Morh in Jammu & Kashmir at a cost of Rs 2,717 crore to provide all weather connectivity between Srinagar and Leh. The decision to give nod to 6.5 km long tunnel was taken by the Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure (CCI) at its meeting here. The tunnel will be built on build, operate and transfer (annuity) basis.

New Delhi Government is targeting awarding road construction projects of 4,000 km length in the current fiscal through the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) mode.

Of this, bids for road projects of 2,650 km length has been invited by ministry of road transport and highways (MoRTH). The remaining will be done by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), MoRTH secretary A K Upadhyay said here on Thursday.
