May 26: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has done nothing to remodel storm water drains to prevent flooding of low lying areas during heavy rains this monsoon.
Kirloskar Consultants and Voyants Solutions, the two agencies that studied the storm water drain network in the core city and surrounding municipal areas, had urged the GHMC to remodel them.

May 19: Two persons who came from the US were admitted on Tuesday to the AP Chest Hospital for suspected swine flu symptoms. One of them is a two-year-old boy.
The baby landed at Shamshabad airport with his parents on May 16. The parents admitted the boy to the Chest Hospital after he developed swine flu symptoms.

May 19: The Water Board (HMWS&SB) swung into action on Tuesday following a Deccan Chronicle report about E. coli contamination in potable water in Marredpally and surrounding areas in the city.
The officials collected water samples and told residents in the affected areas to report immediately to the Water Board if they found contaminated water.

A 23-year old youth belonging to Hyderabad was tested positive for the H1N1 strain of virus that causes swine flu. This is first confirmed case of swine flu in the country.
The test was conducted by the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) in New Delhi and the report was delivered to the Government Chest Hospital here on Saturday.

Two co-passengers of the 23year-old Hyderabad resident, who had come from the US and was detected to be infected with Influenza A(H1N1), commonly known as the swine flu, were on Monday put under observation in a government hospital in Hyderabad.

May 18: The Chief Minister, Dr Rajasekhar Reddy, on Monday said the severity of the Bholakpur incident could have been reduced if officials had acted promptly.
Peeved at the indifference of the officials, Dr Reddy asked them to get back to work.
