BHUBANESWAR: In its bid to plough back revenue generated from mining into development activities in the region, the State Government has created a Special Development Fund mobilising 5 per cent royalty collected from the major minerals.

The Government has pooled Rs 100 cr for the financial year 2010-11 as corpus which will go towards development activities in the mining areas.

Hyderabad, April 12: The Supreme Court on Monday asked the Survey of India to complete by April 22 its survey of the mining areas in Anantapur district leased out to the Obulapuram Mining Company, owned by the Karnataka minister, Mr Gali Janardhan Reddy.

The Department of Ports has taken measures to check illegal export of iron ore from Karwar and Belekeri ports in Karnataka.

The department has made it clear that stock will not be cleared for export unless valid licences are produced and clearances are obtained from competent authorities.
