BELLARY: In a broad daylight incident here, a group of miscreants on Monday attacked Tapal Ganesh, son of a mine owner, who has been fighting against alleged illegal mining by the Reddy brothers on the Karnataka-Andhra Pradesh border.

Three mine owners, on whose plea the Supreme Court recently stayed mining operations of a company owned by the Reddy brothers in Andhra Pradesh, were attacked by an eight-member gang here on Monday, police said.

Karnataka Minister and mining magnate G Janardhan Reddy has denied his involvement in the assault on mine owner Tapal Ganesh and his associates in Bellary today and alleged it was a political conspiracy to tarnish his image.
