The government today approved a proposal to sanction over Rs 19,000 crore for the Udhampur- Baramulla rail project that was announced over 17 years ago to connect Kashmir Valley with Jammu.

The approval was given at a meeting of the Union Cabinet, official sources said, adding that the fund will be utilised for building rail tracks from Katra in Jammu to Qazigund. The deadline for completion of the project is 2017.

Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today said Government is committed to provide all basic amenities to the residents of the Bahu Fort like better lanes and drains, adequate drinking water facilities, un-interrupted power supply, education, healthcare and road connectivity.

Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla on Wednesday laid foundation of deep drill 438900 gallon per day discharge capacity tube well at Sector No. 14 in Nanak Nagar area, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.20 crore under Water Supply Scheme Nanak Nagar.
