Vijayawada, June 1: Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) buses will ply on city roads after the laying of BRTS roads.

By the year 2013-14, development plans of all the civic bodies in the state will be completed. The Union Cabinet Committee on Wednesday approved the ambitious Rs 1,357-crore Yamuna cleaning Interceptor Sewer project of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). In what is termed as the largest fund approval for Delhi under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), the project was cleared after extensive examination by the ministries concerned.

Projects worth over Rs 300 crore have been mooted by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) to ensure a comprehensive solution to the water scarcity problem in different pockets of the city, but faulty planning coupled with lethargy and legal complications have ensured non-completion and faulty implementation of these schemes.

The World Bank~ which has earned sharp criticism from the Left parties over the years~ seems to be the only hope for the CPI-M led state government to win back hearts of urban and rural populace ahead of 2011 Assembly polls.
