Two years ago, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) had a leaking water supply system and defunct meters. It decided to launch a pilot project in the Dharampeth area, and put in new pipes and meters. Today, over 6,000 connections there have water round the clock— and are happy to pay for this privilege.

Ahmedabad: The slumdwellers, displaced due to the Sabarmati riverfront project, were allotted houses under economically weaker section (EWS) scheme in the city on Monday.
In the first draw, 2,371 houses were allocated under the rehabilitation scheme, out of which 271 slum-dwellers living on the eastern bank, on the stretch between Subhash bridge-Dudheshwar bridge, were given new EWS houses.

LUCKNOW: In a fresh impetus to bettering urban infrastructure in major cities of the state, the government of India has named Lucknow, Varanasi, Agra, Kanpur, Meerut, Allahabad and Mathura as mission cities under the urban infrastructure and governance (UIG) scheme of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).

The wait for additional water may get longer for the city.
