The State of Madhya Pradesh became one of the leading States in the country to upgrade from BS-II to BS-III fuel. Indian Oil on behalf of the PSU Oil Industry launched the BS-III fuel in Madhya Pradesh on Monday in the presence of Urban Administration Minister Babulal Gaur and senior officials of IOCL.

Minister of State for Energy (Independent Charge) Rajendra Shukla inspected the construction site of 1200 MW Singaji Thermal Power Project in Khandwa district. He expressed pleasure over the speed of construction work going on. On this occasion Shukla said that by the year 2012 the power plant will start production.

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government is targeting to supply round-the-clock power to all regions of the state by 2013. The state is expecting the power generation capacity to rise by 5000 MW by 2013. Besides, several MoUs have been signed with private sector companies for establishing thermal power plants to generate 56,000 MW of power in the state, an official release said here today.

Chhattarpur: Power utility National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) will establish a 4,000 MW capacity power plant on the banks of Cane river in the district at a project cost of Rs 20,000 crore.

A continuing spell of intense heat coupled with unscheduled power supply cuts in Madhya Pradesh have forced more than a dozen municipal bodies in the state to supply water every alternate day.

Several states have responded well to the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) initiative to introduce a renewable electricity certificate (REC) mechanism.

The state government has agreed in principle to install third-generation and ultramodern LED lights in the areas under all the municipal corporations in the state. For this, open tenders will be invited from various agencies and the agency quoting best rates will be assigned the job.

The state-owned power major NTPC on Wednesday said it will invest about Rs 40,000 crore for setting up three coal-based projects in Madhya Pradesh. The company has selected sites at Bamitha, Gadarwara and Khargone in the state for setting up three coal-fired power stations with a combined capacity of 7,960 MW. The average generation cost of one megawatt power is Rs 5 crore.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh might lose on NTPC

Bhopal: Minister of State for Energy and Mineral Resources (Independent Charge) Rajendra Shukla has urged the Union government to help in the efforts to mobilise funds for increasing power generation and implementing power reforms.
