Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL), the flagship company of Coal India Ltd (CIL), has posted 9.46 per cent growth in coal production in 2008-09 (FY09), outpacing the 7 per cent growth recorded by its parent company, CIL. The production rose to 96.355 million tonnes from 88 million tonnes last fiscal.

HALDIA, March 3: RPG flagship CESC Ltd is setting up a 2,000 MW greenfield thermal power plant in Haldia. The plant will come up in Baneswar Chawk, near Jhikurkhali, East Midnapore district.

KOLKATA, 6 APRIL: Coal India Limited today said that it was facing some problems in raw coal offtake following non-availability of rakes by the Railways. As a result, there has been a meagre 3.6 per cent growth in raw coal offtake during the financial year 2009-10.
