The Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee (CEC), which is inquiring into cases pertaining to illegal mining in the State, will submit its report in two important cases on April 19.

The CEC, which recommended investigation “in public interest” of a case involving two real estates firms owned by the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa's kin that allegedly received money for the grant of a mining lease, will be making its recommendations on the cases.

Leaseholders to submit papers on lease, fencing of lease areas, daily reports on transportation

In a bid to regulate iron ore extraction and transportation by the private sector in Goa, the Directorate of Mines and Geology on Monday issued two orders, directing all leaseholders to submit daily reports on transportation and askingd them to submit documents concerning the lease and fencing of the lease areas.

JAIPUR: To curb illegal mining in the state, the Rajasthan government will start a campaign from April 16th to June 15th. The two-month drive will be carried out in all the districts of the state, with a special focus on regions where the illegal activities are rampant.

Task forces at district and at sub-divisional levels have been formed. Focus will be in areas like Bharatpur, Alwar, Karauli and Bhilwara.
"All the districts in the state have been informed to carry out the inspections at mining sites. Authorities will take strict and effective action against the culprits," said Sudhanshu Pant, secretary, mines and petroleum.
