With just six days to go before the ban on plastic bags comes into effect in the Commercial Capital from January 26, the Margao Civic body appears a confused lot whether to impose a blanket ban on plastic bags or reign in only on carry bags less than 40 microns.

After facing much criticism over the quality of services provided, municipal hospitals can now be expected to provide better hygienic treatment.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) in a move to improve its image has decided to outsource sanitation and security in its hospitals to private agencies.

Mumbai: Compared to the island city, more people stay in the suburbs and pay higher taxes to the municipal corporation. Yet, suburban residents get a smaller share of the water supplied by the civic body.

Mumbai: After assuring the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) of supplying additional water, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has refused to provide 150 mld water to the civic body. The BMC will now seek the additional water from Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in order to provide relief to the parched city.
