The irrigation potential of 1.8 lakh hectare created by Narmada Valley projects during last five years has capacity to change the agriculture economy of the state if maximum of the created potential could be utilized. Keeping this in view the NVDA has zeroing in to take 'Canal water to the fields,' informed the Vice Chairman of NVDA while giving details of the strategy in this regard. He said that efforts are multidirectional. NVDA is executing a work plan to maintain, strengthen and technically uplift the Canal network under various projects.
The study area around Choral river basin in the Narmada Valley region, forms a part of Indore and Khargone districts of Madhya Pradesh. The state government today issued approval to go ahead for 4 new major irrigation projects in Narmada Valley. This committee would prepare action plan for construction of Parikrama Path. Decisions were taken for conservation of rivers at this meeting chaired by Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
